Director: James Cameron

Enetertainment Quotient: 90%
Genre: War/Romance/Sci-fi

MPAA rating: Rated PG-13 for intense epic battle sequences and warfare, sensuality, language and some smoking.

Synopsis:
The story happens in 22nd century. Human scientists discover that there is another planet called Pandora which contains rich minerals which are quite valuable. The army takes up the mission on going to Pandora and rob the minerals. But there is a problem. There is a sect of na’vis, a humanoid race are inhabitants of Pandora. They are quite tall with blue skin, golden eyes and a supple tile. There is not enough oxygen over there and human beings can’t survive. The scientists invent a new process (kind of Matrix process) of Avatar which makes select human beings look-alike of na’vis and sends them across to Pandora to get more information so that their military attack would be immaculate. Jake (Sam Worthington) is a marine who lost his legs in a warfare. His identical twin brother was groomed to be an Avatar, but dies. The Colonel promises his legs back (an expensive operation) if he cooperates to be an Avatar. After going to Pandora as an Avatar, Jake realises that the sect of na’vis are kind-hearted people who co-exist with the nature. He falls in love with the local princess Neyitiri (Zoe Saldana). Jake has orders to follow, But, he learns that Colonel is destroying good people for the sake of minerals. He decides to save Pandora from humans. The rest of the story is all about how he achieves it!

It transports you into a dream world:
James Cameron adds his tremendous creativity into imaginative 3D and VFX technology and shows us how passion for movies can create path-breaking movies like Avatar. The 3D effect, visual effects and the colors transport you into a new dream world you had never imagined. Avatar is supposed to be an alien movie and aliens are supposed to be unfamiliar (that’s why they are called aliens). The na’vis in this movie are excellent and they are familiar despite of blue skin, golden eyes and long tail. The na’vis bond with various animals and co-exist with them. The Pandora world is pleasant with its colors and is easy on eyes. The night vision of Pandora is a visual feast with pleasing florescence colors. There are floating mountains, flying dragons with butterfly colors, flies that look like jelly-fishes etc. The big tree is amazing.

Story with humanity and lots of moral values:
We see the story taking backseat in most of the technical extravaganzas. But Cameron made sure that he gives equal preference to storytelling in Avatar.

This film shows the greed of certain human beings who stop at nothing to achieve money/power. This film also shows the humanity of certain human beings who are willing to sacrifice everything to stop the destruction. Avatar is an eco-friendly movie.

A beautiful love story:
Princess of Pandora falling in love with a stranger from another place is an age-old and commercially successful formula. James Cameron has taken the magnificent canvas of the universe to narrate this love story.

It’s a wonderland:
I felt like the ‘Alice in wonderland’ while watching this movie. We enter the breathtaking land of aliens and root for them throughout the movie. The background music has Indianness in it. On the whole, Avatar is an entertaining, absorbing, ground-breaking and pleasant (not alien) film. Book your tickets right away and watch Avatar in 3D format. And feel yourself extremely lucky if you got an IMAX theatre in the city you live!!

'Tum Mile' focusses on the fateful July day in 2005, 26th precisely, when Mumbai was literally devastated by continuous torrential rainfall. Mumbai has braved through many disasters in recent times, most of them caused by man, but in some cases Nature decides to become destiny. When Akshay and Sanjana, who incidentally are estranged lovers, meet on the plane to Mumbai, little do they know that the city is all set to give them a wet reception - to use an understatement.

From this point on we are poised between the past and the present. The love story in itself is as typical as it can be. Rich (Forbes listed) girl meet-love-live-in with talented but poor painter boy and then circumstance intervenes. They break up and move on, and it takes the plight of an entire city to make them realize the undercurrents in their minds which none of the two seems to have overcome. Wheeeeee. No, this is not oversimplification, the love angle actually runs like this. What elevates the film to a higher level overcoming the weakness in storyline is Kunal Deshmukh's execution of the narrative and convincing performances from the two lead actors.

This is Kunal Deshmukh's second love story after 'Jannat' but perhaps the promos and the publicity were a bit misleading. The audience expected to see a serious portrayal of the Mumbai floods on celluloid, but in this regard, only assumptions are to be blamed. The memories of that July is fresh in our memories and the onset of every monsoon since then have been the reason for many a panic attacks. While the director succeeds in depicting the tension between the lovers quite well, it's the disaster aspect that leaves one disappointed. There is a harping feeling that the flood situation should have been shown in greater detail thereby creating more impact. Instead it has only been used as a lever that takes a love story forward.

Siddhardh aka Sid (Ranabir Kapoor) is an youngster who is on the verge of completing graduation. He is the son of billionaire industrialist. His father wants him to join in his company. But Sid is a lazy guy who caught up with his own world. During his graduation farewell party he meets Aisha (Konkana Sen Sharma) who comes from another city in search of job. She is seven years elder to him. They become thick friends. When Sid fails in the final year, his father scolds him. Sid leaves his home and starts staying in Aisha's place. The rest of the story is all about how he overcome's the laziness and straightens his life to become independent.

First half of the film is short and sweet. Second half is bit lengthy and meanders towards climax. Plus points of the movie are characterizations and direction. The negative point is the slowness towards climax. Wake Up Sid is a mature film about childishness of spoilt rich youth. This film belongs to the genre of Dil Chahtah Hai and Rock On. I recommend it to everybody who want to watch mature movies on the vices of adulthood.

Ajay keeps cool, trying to keep his promise to Sriram. But Sriram hopes otherwise; he wants Ajay to break the promise and beat up the 10 people and throw them out of the factory.
At the same time, Sriram hopes that the imminent marriage between Ajay and Soniya would get cancelled, since he doesn’t want his daughter to be married to a "gangster/street fighter" like Ajay. So Sriram keeps on hoping that Ajay will somehow "burst out" so that his plans will succeed.
